It’s different from everything out there. And he’s not kidding. Which was exactly the point. “We’ve all started listening to different music and we’ve become steeped in the history of rock and roll. So we wanted to take that and combine it with the roots of New Found Glory” Gilbert said… Which was exactly the point. “We’ve all started listening to different music and we’ve become steeped in the history of rock and roll. So we wanted to take that and combine it with the roots of New Found Glory” Gilbert said. “We needed to do something new and different. Kids don’t want to hear the same record. There are a hundred million bands that they could listen to; you want to give them something that they’ve never heard before.

You Hear It First artist Támar Davis injects some guitar soul into the mix with Milk & Honey which is bound to be mixed up with John Lennon’s album of the same name as it hits the record racks. “Beautiful Love and Blessed” pits her with Prince but people ranging from Naomi Judd to Arsenio Hall have been singing her praises. Also stepping up to the plate is Bostonian Catie Curtis whose 12-song Long Night Moon features Mary Chapin Carpenter and the Push Stars’ Chris Trapper; Iowan William Elliott Whitmore whose nine-track Song of the Blackbird finds him reinterpreting “Swing Low Sweet Chariot”; and New Yorker Sasha Dobson whose Modern Romance sees her branching out into Brazilian music folk and pop. The Grates: Gravity Wont Get You High < Music | PopMatters
PopMatters – Aug 29, 2006
Now Hodgson Skyring and Patterson are bringing their debut album Gravity Won’t Get You High out since April in Australia to the western hemisphere at last. Though I recoil from the term the Grates have been described as “pop punk. ” If that is an accurate description then they are pop punk in the opposite manner from their contemporaries. While most music with this label is actually punk sterilized and polished for mainstream audiences the Grates’ music is pop made freshly raw and dirty. n the other hand the Grates seem to be completely unassuming aiming more to have fun than to impress anyone in particular and frequently allow themselves to dip deeper into their bag of pop hooks to good effect.
Punknews.org | Much the Same – Survive
Punknews.org – Aug 29, 2006
In an early listen the word “timeless” came up on Punknews. While that term seems a little cheesy and it’s too early to judge this album’s staying power over the years the progression songwriting and rock sound makes Survive an album that it’s hard to pin to a particular generation which in the end may be what keeps it around for awhile. It’s not 2006 Nitro-style punk it’s just damn good music. “American Idle” the second track is the band’s first real foray into politics. The song faces the idea of neglecting American responsibilities and therefore feeling responsible for some of the current world affairs. It’s a great area for Much the Same to go because it shares a political feeling without turning the band into pushy political preachers.
A Bride Some Beer and ‘Great Balls of Fire’
Washington Post – Aug 29, 2006
In contrast Keith’s priorities are kegs of his favorite beer (Yuengling Lager and Bud Lite) and because he’s a huge fan of rockabilly and punk "really good music" at the reception. His first choice was King Cadillac a vintage ’50s band based in the Washington area which he and Sarah had heard play at a local winery. The band it turned out charges $2000 for three sets. That’s more than the couple would pay for food and drink — an array of "heavy appetizers" (including fried chicken fingers miniature chicken salad croissants and ham biscuits) from Sweet Briar’s catering services plus the requested two kegs of beer. Still Sarah agreed to the cost without question… And so be it if that meant she had to skimp on other expenses. "A big extravagant obnoxious wedding is just not me. ""Sarah likes people to think she’s fussy" smiles Elissa "but she’s really not. "WITH THE $5000 HER PARENTS ALLTTED HER WEDDING LNG GNE Sarah has decided to pare back on every other expense. Instead of floral centerpieces for the reception her mother Peggy has been scouring garage sales around her home in rural Loudonville hio for crystal candlesticks usually 25 cents apiece.
