Beyoncé will headline the 2007 Essence Music Festival which returns to New rleans for three days from July 5-7. The singer who performed at the 2005 event with Destiny’s Child will take the stage July 6. “I am so honored to perform at the Essence Festival as a solo act upon its return to New rleans post-Katrina” Beyoncé said in a statement. “My family’s roots are deep in this area so this will be a wonderful reunion for us as well… The Matches I Am Ghost Escape the Fate and the Higher are heading out next year to support the punk label the bands currently call home. The 2007 Epitaph Tour starts February 1 in San Diego and winds down March 18 in Las Vegas.

When six young dudes who all live in the same house cite bands such as Can Captain Beefheart and Dungen as influences you can bet the music’s in experimental psychedelic territory. And here’s something novel: All majors in the music industry program the band members actually discuss their classes and apply what they’ve learned. People do that in college? Must be why the barely twentysomethings have already played shows at the Roxy and Malibu Inn… The energetic trio Full Switch Coma fronted by junior Andrew Brewer has ramped up quickly following in the footsteps of punk-emo heroes Thrice and AFI: Since forming last year in a humble Camarillo garage Full Switch Coma has self-released a debut album and is opening for phenoms All-American Rejects at Ventura’s Majestic Theatre on Sunday. But Reverse smosis with 17 members is one of the few to a cappella-ize recent indie pop hits by acts such as Postal Service and Ben Folds.

"If you take into consideration that ticket prices for these shows are usually what one of the performers would charge on any other night it’s really a great chance to catch a lot of music for not a lot of money" said Ken ‘Leary of New Noise Management (Rancho Cucamonga’s Rufio Thrice Cold War Kids the Colour). "It’s kind of like one-stop shopping for music fans. " Here’s a look at where to do that shopping: Almost Acoustic Christmas KRQ-FM (106… 9 and 10 will benefit the Al Wooten Jr. Heritage Center and Para Los Ninos. It will be highlighted by lots of pop punk and a double night appearance by the mighty Foo Fighters. Night two will include Beck Evanescence Angels & Airwaves Snow Patrol the Killers the Raconteurs Panic! At The Disco Gnarls Barkley and She Wants Revenge. Highlights: Most of these bands have played locally in the past six months but the most intriguing on the first night is My Chemical Romance.

We're huge fans. My favorite Chuck Norris fact is: When Chuck Norris does pushups he's not pushing himself up but the world down. ne place I always hear Taking Back Sunday is in Hollister. Do you guys consider your music "shopping music"?Damn no! Do people listen to rock and roll when they're shopping? The people that come see us go so crazy while we're playing that I consider our music something more to dance and throw each other around to. I don't really think that would work in a Hollister but maybe it does. You've got a song on the Madden '07 soundtrack.
