Punk’d pranksters unplugged at MTV – 28 Mar 2007 – NZ Herald:…
New Zealand Herald – Mar 28, 2007
This isn’t the first time such an announcement has been made. In December 2003 following the show’s second cycle executive producer Ashton Kutcher said he was pulling the plug. Speculation immediately arose that it was a ploy to lower the guard of celebrity targets; indeed Punk’d returned in April 2004. However MTV Networks Music Group entertainment president Brian Graden has confirmed that the show is officially finished this time but that there might be future collaborations with Kutcher on other projects. As a tribute to the final season Kutcher will host a special “Punk’d Awards” honoring all eight seasons. Kutcher created “Punk’d” with fellow executive producer Jason Goldberg.

TV on the Radio: no one dislikes these dudes
SF Weekly – Mar 28, 2007
—John Garmon The Locust arose from the still-smoldering ashes of crucial San Diego hardcore bands Struggle and Swing Kids in the mid-’90s and has subsequently spent the past decade deconstructing that genre. Punk rock ethos and riffs meld with grindcore noise-rock and mathematical start-stop precision resulting in the band’s stockpile of 60-second post-metal sound blasts. Hitting the road in support of New Erections out this month on Anti the group’s bizarrely costumed aural assault must be seen live to truly be experienced. Joined by Cattle Decapitation and Daughters Rhode Island-based purveyors of pounding prog-metal hardcore this ain’t your typical punk show. Come on feel the noise on Thursday March 29 at Slim’s at 8 p… — Jonah Flicker When I first stumbled upon Brooklyn trio Calla seven years ago I was completely mesmerized: Brooding stylish music hung in the air — desert-twang guitars cut with modest electronic noise and haunted vocals that came across like a staticky interplanetary transmission of The Good the Bad and the Ugly soundtrack. The vibe of the band’s earliest recordings was similar but in recent years the group has broadened and refined its approach beefing up the sonics in a shoegazery manner and growing damn near radio-friendly. Calla’s new album Strength in Numbers is the best of both worlds maintaining those riveting atmospherics inside songs you’ll likely remember after the gig is over. Calla performs twice this week: first on Wednesday March 28 at the Rickshaw Stop at 8:30 p.
Black Lung Theatre
NEWS.com.au – Mar 28, 2007
This "musical without music" – although we did all sing Hey Jude at one stage – appears to be a screaming match with family writ large as sub- text as brothers battle out their positions with no apparent self-control. The Black Lung pattern of theatre is becoming more familiar to Adelaide audiences and reminds me of punk rockers adjusted for drama. The shows mix music sometimes live some times pre-recorded and interfered with as here with black humour plenty of head- kicking violence and near naked men daubed in paint. Gareth Davies and Thomas Wright lead the action with intense verbal and physical attacks on each other. Yet they somehow manage a winning visceral intimacy among themselves that connects well with the audience. Share this article.
