In Baltimore Music & Moshing on the Fringe
Washington Post – Jul 23, 2007
Within the realm of art-damaged non-commercial rock there was plenty of variety to be found. The best performance of the night came from post-hardcore trio Double Dagger which played on a makeshift side stage and worked the crowd into a moshing frenzy with its invigorating bass drums and screaming assault. Ponytail’s spastic guitar-shredding rock was also a crowd pleaser as was the sample-heavy punk party music of the Death Set. In fact all nine acts received glowing receptions. People weren’t simply waiting around for the headliners; they watched and danced to every band at the BYOB fete. The support was equal to the creativity flourishing on the stages.

Music Review | Siren Music Festival
New York Times – Jul 23, 2007
From left Ramesh Srivastava Jason Chronis and Mitch Calvert. Matt Simon was on the drums. She finally made it and just in time for the seventh annual Siren Music Festival on Saturday at Coney Island Brooklyn a free concert organized by The Village Voice. There were 14 acts on two stages to entertain cheerful indie-rock crowds as well as thousands of unsuspecting boardwalk saunterers. The ritual of a trip to Siren can feel perverse. You go all the way to Coney Island to enjoy the sun the noise the fried food. But often it’s not long before you’re looking for shade for quiet for something anything! that hasn’t spent a few violent minutes in hot oil… But often it’s not long before you’re looking for shade for quiet for something anything! that hasn’t spent a few violent minutes in hot oil. Past Siren lineups have included the Yeah Yeah Yeahs Death Cab for Cutie and Modest Mouse: underground heavyweights on their way up or already there. By contrast this year’s headliners were the New York Dolls the reunited proto-punks led by David Johansen a tough and skinny veteran who now bears a passing resemblance to beef jerky. When a reconstituted 36-year-old band headlines Siren that tells you something (good) about the band and (not-so-good) about the festival.

Daft Punk thrill massive LA crowd
NME.com – Jul 23, 2007
Entering to the minimalist five-tone alien greeting made famous in the film ‘Close Encounters Of The Third Kind’ Daft Punk proceeded to work the crowd into a dance frenzy with crowd-pleasers including ‘Aerodynamic’ and ‘Da Funk’. An impressive light display accompanied the French DJs at times illuminating the entire arena in multi-coloured laser beam explosions reminiscent of the early ’90s rave scene. Several scantily clad fans carried glowsticks in the sweltering arena which throbbed non-stop with dance music throughout the night from openers Ratatat and French DJs Sebastian & Kavinsky who warmed up the crowd with lively sets. –By our Los Angeles staff.
