Over the following decades as disco merged into rock and rock into punk music was to gather a social currency on a par with clothes and haircuts which Lavinia learned could make or break you as you moved through the murky waters of young womanhood. Being womanly was not something that came naturally to this loud small pale person however so it was with relief that she embraced the sharp angles and straight lines of punk.
