Comments on ‘Ramones sticksman sues Apple and Wal-Mart’

If the artist reviewed their aggreements to see if internet distribution is actually covered in the original agreement if not kick up a fuss like this (although in this case rights don’t seen to have been granted for *any* distribution). I’m sure there must be other cases where distribution has been extended to the internet but the original rights agreement doesn’t cover that. Suing everyone in the chain By foxyshadis Posted Saturday 22nd September 2007 23:05 GMTI guess punk music kicked a few people’s dogs or something. According to reuter’s he is suing the publisher as well as the studio and the ramones estate so don’t knock him for that. RE: Gabba Gabba Hey By Steve Anderson Posted Saturday 22nd September 2007 23:27 GMT@ Keith TurnerI feel it necessary to point out that it’s “brat” not “runt”. Even punks can write rhymes!Oh by the way… According to reuter’s he is suing the publisher as well as the studio and the ramones estate so don’t knock him for that. By Anonymous Coward Posted Sunday 23rd September 2007 17:02 GMTI just love some of you guys that any time the subject of lawsuits or copyrights come up automatically take the default “No one owns anything!!!!11!!!11!” position. This guy spent his time and energy writing these songs.
The Paul Newman of Punk Rock
BusinessWeek – Sep 21, 2007
The segment isn’t driven by hit singles or radio airplay like most of the music business. Instead Posen and his team must build awareness for their artists through appearances in record stores on social networking sites such as MySpace (.
Siouxsie – Reviews Music & Gigs – Belfasttelegraph.co.uk
Belfast Telegraph – Sep 21, 2007
As part of the late 1970s’ ‘have-a-go’ spontaneity sect Siouxsie cut a striking figure. And judging by the cover of her latest album where an electro-haired mad-made-up Siouxsie lies covered in in butterflies wasps and dragnonflies she’s still daring to be different. As for the music there are several tunes that recall the Banshees’ trademark metal-edged guitar bounced up with dance beats. Elsewhere there are wonderfully stylish dark and twisted tracks including Drone Zone and the brilliant Sea of Tranquility that really do single Siouxsie out from the rest. Then again even at the height of punk Siouxsie always looked different from her counterparts. Although the genre was about sartorial confrontation Ms Sioux cuts a figure of strange elegance. Mantaray proves that far from taking it easy in a comfort zone reserved for well-respected oldies Siouxsie has still a few miles to go in her extraordinary musical adventure.

If you listen to their pop-punk melodic whine precisemusicianship and emotive but meaningless lyrics it’s all too easyto tar them with the “emo” brush along with My Chemical Romanceand Good Charlotte. But Hot Lies singer Pete Wood says the definition of emo whichoriginally referred to a group of hardcore punk bands in the ’80shas been twisted out of shape. Today it varies “depending onwho you talk to”. “It changes so much I don’t know where we fit in” agrees HotLies drummer Jared Brown. “Emo used to be college rock kids listening to Jimmy Eat World… We didn’t want to have any filler. The band eventually asked their peers from chart-topping rockact Eskimo Joe to help them with the songwriting process. “They weren’t really our style of music but we really respectedthe way they just achieved more and more with every album” Brownsays. Members of Eskimo Joe now share the songwriting credits on twotracks from the Hot Lies debut album Ringing inthe Sane. he Hot Lies are about to go on the road as a support for GoodCharlotte and are hoping to score the same job in the coming MyChemical Romance tour. In time they aim to turn the tables andmake their own mark on the US market. “When you go over to the States you have to make animpression” Brown says.
LCD Soundsystem mixes dance punk
Deseret News – Sep 21, 2007
“I did go through different phases throughout my youth but I had a special affinity to punk rock. So when he got the idea to do LCD Soundsystem Murphy decided to mix dance music with punk. “It came about in a roundabout way. I spent a lot of time growing up playing in bands that weren’t very good. And I’m sure I shot myself in the foot many times. But I loved the feel of punk and kept doing it and evolving it to fit what I felt sounded good.

(Sisario)BJORK KLAXONS (Monday) It’s been a long time since Bjork’s combination of wailing indie-rock eroticized electronica and use of random musical props Inuit choirs beatboxers has been truly avant-garde or even surprising. But her latest album “Volta” (Elektra) still sounds fresh and energized with every sound becoming her exotic plaything. Klaxons’ eerie yet entirely danceable rave-punk is accented by the peal of air-raid sirens and paranoid chants that allude to William S. Burroughs and Thomas Pynchon… (Sisario)JUNIOR BROWN (Tomorrow) Junior Brown has his own instrument: the doublenecked “guit-steel” allows him to play biting electric guitar leads in one verse and suave steel guitar in the next. In most of his music he’s a country traditionalist true to honky-tonk tempos and the deadpan baritone vocal style of Ernest Tubb.
