helped in the latter by the video for “Fake Plastic Trees. ” During the first half of 1996 Radiohead continued to tour before re-entering the studio that fall to record their third album OK Computer which was released in the summer of 1997. A devoted following of fans and a handful of enthusiastic critical supporters immediately embraced the album’s majestic blend of unfettered prog rock post-punk angst eerie electronic textures and assured songwriting. Since it skillfully teetered between rock classicism and futurism it earned near-unanimous critical and popular support over the course of the year which turned into unrestrained adoration in the final two years of the decade even though its sales still hadn’t climbed above gold status. Expectations for Radiohead’s fourth album were stratospheric which placed additional pressure on the already perfectionist band and led to several stumbling blocks along the way. An intense buzz of excitement among the band’s still-growing following greeted the prerelease appearance of most of the album’s tracks on the Internet in MP3 form; they displayed an all-out fascination with challenging often minimalist electronica. "We kind of developed a unique original sound" says Ramone via phone from his Catskills studio. "We took the classic instruments from the past and created very modern music. " And yet Ramone maintains the band's not all that different from his punk past. "Underneath it all the framework is very similar" he explains. "My aesthetics and ideas are at the base of both of them. And both are homegrown.
iBand makes music with Apple’s iPhone

html">iPhones are enough to create a band and Austria\’s iBand is living proof having scored a hit on the internet by converting the little gadgets into a guitar a keyboard and a set of drums. The Viennese trio first gained attention in February on the video-sharing website YouTube with its self-titled music video. The clip which shows a bird\’s eye view of six hands typing away at three touchscreens has since been viewed over 2… " The musical phone’s only limitation is its lack of nuances: whether the player’s touch is soft or hard the sound coming out of the instrument remains the same making it ill-suited for classical music or jazz. "But then again why not" Seb said. In the end the iPhone is very similar to other instruments according to the three musicians who founded a punk group 10 years ago. "Like with other instruments you have to practice until you get the sound you want" Roger said. "We’re digital but in terms of melody rhythm we adapt to one another these are not samples we play by clicking on a link" Marina said. Playing with only two fingers can also be physically demanding but according to Seb "the fingers are like drumsticks to play well you have to really relax your hands. " Despite this unexpected publicity for its leading product Apple hasn’t contacted the band.

Well other than some serious hair mistakes they gave birth to the present Generation Y also called the age of the Millenials by some. This generation’s music has been marked by major innovations in punk grunge pop and more. Raised on the music of previous generations many ears have been force-fed the greats. Some have been raised in homes where Eric Clapton was prayed to before dinner along with grace. Others may only know past music from its ever-present use in car commercials. No matter how it was introduced music of generations past has influenced our current culture and shaped our ideals of what music should be.

I like a saxophone about as much as I likea greasy chicken thigh from KFC. But at SXSW the Athens Georgia psych-rock collective played aVice Records showcase sandwiched between Canadian hardcore band FuckedUp and Tennessee garage punk Jay Reatard and it was the most honestraw and excited performance of the entire fest. Nowprobably the weirdest is the Raager (pronounced roger) who is ourdrone box from India. You guys look like hippies but play like punks. Punks areusually mean to hippies. Has anyone ever been mean to you thinkingyou’re a stinkin’ hippie? There’s no difference in my mind. We’re just poor people with bigrecord collections who are interested in internal exploration. I meanVoid doesn’t sound like the Incredible String Band but I love both ofthem.
