getRhapRssFeed(1015 “artist” getRhapTracksRSS); Full BiographySlayer was one of the most distinctive influential and extreme thrash metal bands of the 1980s. Their graphic lyrics deal with everything from death and dismemberment to war and the horrors of hell. Their full-throttle velocity wildly chaotic guitar solos and powerful musical chops paint an effectively chilling sonic background for their obsessive chronicling of the dark side; this correspondence has helped Slayer’s music hold up arguably better than the remaining Big Three ’80s thrash outfits (. Naturally Slayer has stirred up quite a bit of controversy over the years with rumors flying about Satanism and Nazism that have only added to their mystique… The album was a massive success debuting at number eight on the Billboard album charts. Bostaph left the band to concentrate on a side project the Truth About Seafood and was replaced by ex-. Bostaph rejoined Slayer in time to record 1998’s Diabolus in Musica. The band reunited with Def Jam for 2001’s God Hates Us All. In 2004 they unleashed the four-disc anthology Soundtrack to the Apocalypse followed by an album of all-new material Christ Illusion in 2006. ~ Steve Huey All Music Guide.
The Police find strange harmony in creative tension
Dallas Morning News – May 20, 2008
Copeland Sting and Andy Summers caused the Police to break up in the mid-’80s at the peak of the group’s stardom. But friction is also what made the band’s music tick. The Police’s songs sounded like an explosion at a record store as jazz collided with pop reggae punk and world music. Today a year after the band reunited the discord continues to make for a strange harmony. “It’s part of the dynamic” says Mr. “It’s an odd match and we twist each other into shapes that aren’t necessarily comfortable.
Coming Distractions: Boardwalk targets Cute Is What We Aim For
Sacramento Bee – May 20, 2008
band was heavy into “Hello Kitty” and “My Little Pony” but well no. Maybe the emo-punk band is referring to its Tiger Beat-worthy status. Either way we’re guessing that a year from now the up-and-coming act may be too big for a little ol’ club like the Boardwalk (9426 Greenback Lane Orangevale). Check ‘em out July 27 with Ace Enders Danger Radio and Powerspace. Tickets ($12 advance $14 door) are on sale through Tickets… com outlets (inside select Raley’s and Bel Air supermarkets) and online at Tickets. ***Good science: Brooklyn’s We Are Scientists makes music that sounds like a blend of yes wonky sonic experiments and sweet catchy pop. Not a bad combination at all if you ask us. Check out the results July 5 at the Blue Lamp (1400 Alhambra Blvd. Tickets ($12) go on sale May 24 through R5 the Beat Dimple Records Armadillo Music Tickets.

Ear Candy interviews Robert Smith of the Cure
Seattle Post Intelligencer – May 20, 2008
Robert Smith the 45-year old singer for influential rock group The Cure likes to wear makeup and isn’t afraid to admit it. “I wore makeup when I was at school and I wore makeup when glam started. I started wearing it again when punk started. I’ve always been drawn to wearing it” Smith said during a phone interview from Chicago. “It’s partly ritualistic partly theatrical and partly just because I think I look better with it on. ”
Along with his trademark jet black hair usually teased to high heaven Smith’s morbidly dark eye shadow ruby red lipstick and painted fingernails have come to define his as well as The Cure’s image during the 25 years the group has been making music. However it has not been all smooth sailing for Smith… I’ve always been drawn to wearing it” Smith said during a phone interview from Chicago. “It’s partly ritualistic partly theatrical and partly just because I think I look better with it on. ”

However it has not been all smooth sailing for Smith. He has announced the end of The Cure on several occasions and has taken a few hiatuses during his quarter-century career. But The Cure has never completely fallen out of the musical landscape. Originally known as Easy Cure the group was founded by Smith and a few of his schoolmates in southern England in 1979.
WHAT HATH GOTH WROUGHT?
New York Post – May 20, 2008
A mutual friend invited me to her house and she played a solo set that was an earth shattering epiphany for me. I though this is the person I#39;ve been looking for all of my life. I went up to her and told her I loved her music and asked if she would play with me. A week later we left a rehearsal space holding hands jumping up and down yelling #39;We#39;re a band we#39;re a band!#39; It was magical. quot; With this new record – and attitude – the Dolls are making magic again.
Band Profile: A Kiss Could Be Deadly
Press-Enterprise – May 20, 2008
The band’s song quot;Midnight Romancequot; is a burst of nouveau new wave but an even sweeter treat is the acoustic version of the song capping the disc. quot;I really love that last track and how it branches out on a different stylequot; Baird said. The spacey opening of quot;Broken Musicquot; works well in juxtaposition with the hooky melodies and Echo and the Bunnymen-ish guitar line… akisscouldbedeadly. com By the time Riverside native Qualls was in college at UCR he wanted something different from the punk songs he had been writing and playing with various local bands over the years. He wanted to experiment using synthesizers and programming to try his hand at writing quot;actual pop songs instead of snotty pop songs. quot; Through mutual friends Qualls connected with fellow UCR student Baird who grew up in San Jose and began singing the songs Qualls wrote. The duo who both live in Huntington Beach now decided to move forward with a live band and Qualls tapped into the networks of musicians he knew to get bassist Cairns and guitarist Bennett both of Riverside and Deleon who grew up in Fontana but now lives in Long Beach. Soon the band began to build a following.
