You can see the Huntington Beach Calif. band in action Wednesday at the House of Blues. ?I think with ska music in general it?s just fun music to listen to? Steen said. ?People can go see a ska band and have a good time. I get it all the time where people will say ?I don?t own one of your records but I love seeing you guys whenever you play in town. ? And the band just doesn?t play ska-punk stuff. We have rock tunes traditional ska straight-up punk tunes.

TBB – It feels like to me like the band really explored some new sounds on these latest releases. Do you see your music heading in a more electronic direction?SRW – I’m incredibly excited for the next album cause I feel we have so much to offer but sometimes we can’t see it ourselves which is why we wanna work with a producer who can push our creative limits to the max. TBB – When you decided to cover “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” were there elements of the original that you wanted to preserve? What did you want to capture with your version?SRW: Darlene Love’s voice is breathtaking and there’s no way we were ever gonna capture that:) I wanted to capture the nostalgic theme of the song but bring it to our generation with distorted synths and pounding electronic drums. TBB – “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” is in my opinion the best Christmas pop song ever. Do you guys have other favorite Christmas songs?SRW – I think the Nat King Cole’s Christmas album is unbelievable and so is Ella Fitzgerald’s Swinging Christmas.

there will be a special performance in the Music Hall’s Jazz Caf?y Asheton’s former Dark Carnival bandmates led by Bootsey X & the Lovemasters and some “very special friends will play in honor of their late band mate and friend. ” Asheton is best known for his grinding proto-punk guitar sound on such Stooges songs as “1969″ “No Fun” and “I Wanna Be Your Dog. ” After Iggy and the Stooges split he stayed in Michigan to lead the groups Destroy All Monsters and then Dark Carnival. In a statement Niagara and the Colonel said: “Ron Asheton was more than an innovative guitarist he was an easygoing subtly hilarious guy who simply and effectively created a sound and aesthetic which will forever reverberate as long as there are guitar players. Ron maximized his early work into postmodern art of the highest order. In retrospect Ron’s influence cannot be overstated only imitated.

corner({ tl: { radius: 12 } tr: { radius: 12 } bl: { radius: 12 } br: { radius: 12 } antiAlias: true autoPad: true validTags: ["div"] }); }); By Joel Shanahan January 12 2009 After the Mad Rollin’ Dolls’ season kick-off the High Noon Saloon hosted a claustrophobic roller-derby after-party stuffed with fun garage rock justified heckling and enough confrontational nerd-spit to drown a mule. pening the show Madison trash-punk duo The Hussy took the stage in matching zebra-striped T-shirts. A refreshingly attentive audience pumped its fists as lanky mop-topped guitarist Bobby Wegner swung his jangled spiked-bat riffing in to the blasting power-pop rhythms of drummer Heather Sawyer. The Hussy also boasted a dual-vocal delivery which resembled two siblings trying to compete for their mother’s attention over the sound of a running chainsaw. After the duo thrashed its way through the high-octane blues-punk of set-closer “Social Critique” a schlock-a-billy train-wreck arrived in the form of Kansas City’s Them Damned Young Livers. It isn’t often that even a few people at a Madison show actively heckle a band or raise up their middle fingers (one guy not far from the stage did this over and over again during the Livers’ set) but unfortunately this band’s sloppy country-rock tested the crowd’s Midwestern hospitality.

A personal favorite would be Dave King singing Bad Religion’s “Fuck Armageddon… This is Hell. ” The DVD includes karaoke versions of all the songs with onscreen lyrics and off-kilter backgrounds. The only problem is its brevity; the CD only has 10 tracks with about 25 minutes of music. Punk Rock Karaoke is perfect for those who spent formative years shouting themselves hoarse to punk rock classics. Write Your wn ReviewBookmark:.
