Dave Feldman leads a Wyldlife
Baruch College The Ticker NY
jpg” >Media Credit: Ben ShapiroDave Feldman was destined to play music. Well maybe not destined but it certainly seemed like an appropriate path for the Baruch College sophomore who grew up listening to his father’s “huge record collection” and watching his brother Kurt play in numerous bands while garnering a love for punk rock from his brother Mike. Feldman says “Mike gave me that first very very basic taste of the late 70′s punk while Kurt had been and is still supplying me with 80′s post-punk music both of which are my two favorite types of music and I suppose their traces can be found in Wyldlife. Wyldlife is the band that Feldman fronts which includes Sam Allen (guitar) Dave Kinney (guitar) Max Hamlin (bass) and Tyler Houston (drums) whom he met in the 7th grade after realizing that they all had a love for “Star Wars old 70′s punk and skateboarding. ” After spending years playing music with his brothers in their basement Feldman felt that it was a natural progression to create a band of his own with his group of friends. Their first foray into the music world as a group came with their band The Cokes with Feldman on drums and writing all the lyrics which he remembers as “so middle-school-ish and embarrassing. ” After playing at middle school events and birthday parties for a year Feldman fell out of the band.
Dropkick Murphys – to be sure let’s get raucous

"The music is familiar to people and there is some Irish heritage there but what’s been the best is to see it happening in places like Japan and Italy and Russia. "I don’t think it matters if you’re not necessarily from the background or even familiar with the music. People like it – it’s good party music and it’s aggressive. " What’s it like seeing Japanese fans screaming along to Celtic punk music? "It’s funny because sometimes when we play in Japan and the crowd screams the words back at you in perfect English – I mean you can’t even detect an accent or anything different. "Then you come off stage to talk to the kids and they can’t even speak English – it’s more like a mimic than actually knowing what they’re singing back at you. "They’re insane and very excitable. " What have been some of the best shows that stick in your mind? Is bigger better? "We’ve done different things.

By Rafer GuzmanNewsdayNEW YRK ? Soul music has ?Ray? the scar-winning film about the legendary Ray Charles and country music has ?Walk the Line? about Johnny Cash. Punk rock got the biopic treatment in ?Sid and Nancy. ? Even the minor subgenre of post-punk spurred ?Control? about the cult figure Ian Curtis. Yet hip-hop one of the most influential and far-reaching musical idioms in the world has been overlooked ? until now. ?Notorious? released by Fox Searchlight Pictures marks the first studio-produced wide-release biopic of a hip-hop artist ? in this case Christopher Wallace known in the 1990s as The Notorious B.

)Jeremy Wallach a cultural anthropologist with the department of pop culture at Bowling Green State University in hio calls 1969 “the apotheosis and decline of the counterculture. ” He too says the music of the day tells the story. “After (1969) you see the rise of disco punk alternative indie rock heavy metal” says Wallach 38. “What’s interesting is this was the beginning of all these styles. You see what was to come. Pop music got a lot darker.
