Any sort of reaction is lost but it’s not hard to imagine the looks of bewilderment and disdain probably being aimed in Reatard’s direction. He goes on a moment longer segueing from a veiled threat to light the offending vehicle on fire to the music he finds himself drawn to these days. It’s an ADD moment that’s pure Reatard a guy who’s often categorized as punk but makes music at such a prolific rate that it’s truly impossible to categorize or define. For a guy who reportedly dropped out of the eighth grade to pursue music he’s become something of a DIY icon; now signed to Matador Records he continues to churn out recording after recording at a breakneck pace. “It’s all I know how to do; it’s not too surprising that if someone does only one thing then that one thing is really all that they do” he said. “I’ve got a lot of time so I end up writing a lot of songs and recording them and throwing a lot away. I think probably a lot of musicians are prolific but they allow themselves to be forced into the idea that they can only put out one record every 18 months that they shouldn’t put out anything else because that’s not how you do it.

They managed to piss off several of the other bands and even the bartender. Here’s a clue for the clueless: Punk (and music in general) is NT a competition sport – drop the “battle of the bands” mindset because it’s a real bore. There is absolutely no reasonable basis for a band to show up with their crew and be rude & disrespectful to the point of alienating virtually everyone else involved. Here are a few points for those who think this garbage is cool: 1) Don’t call three hours before an event you’ve known about for months and ask for an excessive amount of gas money from a benefit show that requires a short trip from rlando to Tampa. None of the other bands coming from out of town asked for anything. 2) Don’t whine about not wanting to “lose money” by playing a benefit show and then call yourself Punk.

The songs on “Dear Diary” are what to expect from a pop rock band. “Boy Moves To A New Town With ptimistic utlook” is a stereotypical pop punk song. It even has a section where the singer counts to four which has become a staple in punk music. The song is decent at best. “The Shindig (ff To College)” has a decent intro that would be much better as an instrumental. “Man Whatcha Doin’?” is different from the rest of the album. It has a hip-hop influenced vocal that is a pleasant surprise compared to the rest of the album.
